The Cedar Trust was set up in 1999 to provide a vehicle for a fundraising appeal to build a dedicated centre for diabetes and other endocrine disorders in the grounds of the Royal Surrey County Hospital at Guildiford. The cost of the project will be approximately £600,000. The Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Trust has agreed to finance the running costs of the centre.

The Trustees are:

The Trust is run by a management committee consisting of the trustees, an accountant and auditor, Brian Dean, and the appeal co-ordinator, Susie Furniss. The committee meets at two month intervals and the accounts are inspected on a monthly basis.


The aims of the Trust are to:

build and maintain a centre for patients with diabetes and endocrine disorders initially at the Royal Surrey and then to help develop other centres throughout the country.

advance the knowledge and understanding of diabetes and endocrine disorders through research.

to improve the education available to everyone concerned, including patients, carers, teachers, employers and all health care praticitioners.

improve the service available to all patients with diabetes and endocrine disorders within the district served by the Royal Surrey County Hospital and subsequently in other Cedar Centres.
